Hope International Secures Back-to-Back GSAC Men's Soccer Titles with 4-2 Victory Over The Master's

Hope International triumphed over The Master's in a thrilling finale of the GSAC Men's Soccer Tournament Championship, securing their second straight title with a decisive 4-2 victory on Thursday at Titan Stadium in Fullerton, Calif. The intense contest saw the Royals come from behind to clinch the win and an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship.

The match opened with an own goal by Hope International in the 12th minute, giving The Master's an unexpected advantage. However, Hope International leveled the score through a Matthias Alcaraz goal, assisted by Isidro Rios, in the 38th minute.

The Royals took a 2-1 lead in the 57th minute with a goal from Jorge Perez that was assisted by Sebastian Ramirez and Christian Hernandez. Trent Rickard leveled the game at 2-2 in the 70th minute when he scored for the Mustangs on a feed from Theo Kudlo. Braulio Morales netted the eventual game-winner in the 74th minute, assisted by Perez, before Alcaraz sealed the victory with his second goal of the night in the 85th minute.

Despite the challenge from The Master's, who managed 15 shots and five corners, Hope International answered with 25 shots and six corners. Remarkable performances were noted from non-starters who contributed three of the four goals for Hope International, highlighting the depth of the team. The Royals' goalkeeper, Berlin Torres, made a notable seven saves, helping to fend off further scoring attempts by The Master's.

This victory not only celebrates the Royals' consistent excellence in the GSAC but also propels them into the NAIA National Championship with momentum and high spirits. The entire lineup for the National Championship is set to be announced by the NAIA this Saturday at noon PT, on the NAIA streaming portal.
