ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – Embry-Riddle sophomore Jonathan Tso has been named the NAIA Men’s Golfer of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday.

Tso earned the national honor after capturing the individual title at the Northwest Iowa Invitational, hosted by Texas Wesleyan. The Prescott, Arizona, native finished the three-round event at 13-under par with rounds of 68, 68 and 64, winning the tournament by one stroke over Grand View’s Chris Drake.

After entering the final round three strokes off the lead, Tso delivered a 7-under 64 to climb to the top of the leaderboard.

Tso opened his final round with a bogey before immediately responding with a birdie on the par-3 second hole. He recorded four birdies on the front nine before making his biggest move after the turn, carding an eagle on the par-4 10th.

He added three more birdies on the back nine, including a birdie on No. 18 that secured the one-stroke victory.

Tso’s performance helped Embry-Riddle finish second in the team standings, just four strokes behind fellow GSAC member OUAZ.

The national recognition continues a strong start to the season for Tso and the Eagles. Embry-Riddle has finished second in each of its first two tournaments and will return to competition Oct. 12-13 when it hosts the ERAU Fall Invitational at Antelope Hills Golf Course in Prescott.
