ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — The GSAC has announced the promotion of Josh Fisher to Assistant Commissioner, effective July 1.

Fisher moves into the full-time role after serving as the conference's Director of Communications on a part-time basis for the past two years. His appointment marks the first time since the 2023-24 academic year that the GSAC has employed a full-time Assistant Commissioner, further strengthening the conference office's ability to serve its member institutions and enhance the championship and day-to-day experience for its student-athletes.

"Josh has already demonstrated his commitment to the conference and our member institutions through his work over the past two years," said GSAC Commissioner Mike Daniels. "His experience across every level of collegiate athletics, combined with his vision for communications, branding and championship administration, makes him an outstanding fit for this expanded role. Adding a full-time Assistant Commissioner represents an important investment in the future of the GSAC."

Fisher brings nearly 20 years of experience in collegiate athletics communications, media relations, digital strategy and championship administration, having worked at the NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NAIA levels.

Most recently, Fisher served as Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications at Southeastern University, where he directed athletic communications for the Fire's 20 varsity sports. He oversaw all aspects of the department's communications operation, including media relations, statistical services, website and social media management, live streaming, publications and conference and national student-athlete awards.

Prior to Southeastern, Fisher served as Communications Program Coordinator at Arizona State University, where he managed communications for the Sun Devils' women's soccer and softball programs. During his time in Tempe, he helped elevate the programs' digital presence through strategic social media initiatives, media relations and content development.

Fisher's career began at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, where he spent 10 years as the Griffins' Sports Information and Events Coordinator. He later served one year at Rocky Mountain College before joining Ottawa University Arizona, where he spent four-and-a-half years as Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications. He also served as Sports Information Director for the Frontier Conference before joining the GSAC staff as Director of Communications in 2024.

In his expanded role as Assistant Commissioner, Fisher will oversee the conference's communications, branding, digital media and broadcasting initiatives while assuming additional responsibilities in championship administration, sport oversight, strategic planning and member services. He will continue leading the conference's media relations efforts while helping guide new initiatives designed to enhance the visibility of the GSAC and its student-athletes.

"I've been fortunate to work with outstanding coaches, administrators and student-athletes throughout my career, and I'm grateful to Commissioner Mike Daniels and the GSAC Presidents Council for the opportunity to continue serving this conference in an expanded role," Fisher said. "The GSAC is positioned for an exciting future, and I look forward to working alongside our member institutions to continue elevating the conference experience for our student-athletes while expanding the visibility of the incredible accomplishments taking place across the GSAC."

Fisher and his wife, Brittany, have three children.
