The 2026 GSAC Softball All-Conference Team and postseason award winners, presented by Under Armour, were announced Monday, recognizing the top performers across the conference following a highly competitive regular season.
Regular season champion Arizona Christian led the major awards, claiming four of the conference’s top honors, including Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year and Coach of the Year, while OUAZ and Park Gilbert also earned individual recognition among the conference’s top award winners.
Dayna Herrera was named GSAC Player of the Year after delivering one of the most complete seasons in the conference as both a hitter and pitcher. The Arizona Christian junior batted .532 with 66 hits, 50 RBIs, and eight home runs while also going 14-5 with a 2.63 ERA in the circle. Herrera additionally earned a spot on the Gold Glove Team, capping a season in which she impacted the game in every phase.
Alyssa Grinstead earned Pitcher of the Year honors following a dominant freshman campaign for the Firestorm. Grinstead posted a 15-3 record with a 2.22 ERA and 118 strikeouts over 129.1 innings, helping anchor one of the conference’s top pitching staffs while emerging as one of the GSAC’s premier arms.
Ava Seguin was selected Newcomer of the Year after making an immediate impact for OUAZ as one of the conference’s top all-around players. The junior utility standout hit .403 with 56 hits, 42 RBIs, and six home runs while also contributing in the circle, providing the Spirit with production on both sides of the game.
Arianna Fjeldsted claimed Freshman of the Year honors after a breakout debut season for Park Gilbert. The rookie outfielder hit .457 with 75 hits, 56 runs scored, and four home runs, emerging as one of the conference’s most dynamic young players while also earning All-Conference recognition.
Mike Mayben was named Coach of the Year after guiding Arizona Christian to the 2026 GSAC regular season championship, the program’s first since 2016. Under Mayben’s leadership, the Firestorm went 20-4 in conference play and 36-11 overall, pairing consistency with championship-level performance throughout the season.
The All-Conference Team featured representation from seven programs and reflected the depth and balance across the league, with multiple institutions placing several honorees on the squad. Arizona Christian’s award haul and strong presence on the team highlighted its championship season, while contributors from throughout the conference underscored the competitive level of GSAC softball in 2026.
The Gold Glove Team honored the conference’s top defensive performers and showcased excellence across the diamond, with nine players recognized from five schools. Multiple programs placed more than one selection on the defensive squad, highlighting the high-level fielding that complemented the league’s standout offensive and pitching performances this spring.
