Arizona Christian Builds Lead as GSAC Women’s Championships Head to Final Day

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- Arizona Christian continued to build a significant lead through two days of competition at the GSAC Women’s Track & Field Championships, compiling 127 points through eight scored events. The Firestorm created separation with balanced production across distance, field events, and the heptathlon, while The Master’s (52 points) and Embry-Riddle (35 points) remained in contention for podium positions heading into the final day.

Day two opened on the track with the 3,000-meter steeplechase, where Embry-Riddle’s Mia Kemp delivered a controlled performance to win in 11:18.30. The Master’s placed two runners in the top four, led by Brooke Cregan’s runner-up finish, while Arizona Christian also collected points behind Kaesha Guillaume’s third-place effort.

The 10,000 meters saw The Master’s secure a key event victory, as Alyssa Lovett pulled away for the win in 37:13.52. Arizona Christian’s Alison Unruh added eight points with a second-place finish, while Embry-Riddle demonstrated depth by placing five runners in the top eight.

In relay action, The Master’s picked up another event win in the 4x800, posting a time of 9:38.57 to outpace Arizona Christian and Simpson. The result helped The Master’s maintain its hold on second place in the team standings.

Arizona Christian made its largest impact in the field events. Rylan Rhodes led a strong showing in the long jump, winning with a mark of 5.31 meters, while teammate Goldyn Hall added a fourth-place finish. In the pole vault, McKenna Rogers cleared 3.00 meters to secure another 10 points for ACU, with teammate Rebekah Freeman also scoring.

The heptathlon further widened Arizona Christian’s advantage. The Firestorm swept the top three spots in the overall standings, led by Lucy Lovelace (3,650 points), with Cheney Gomez and Jocelyn Odiott close behind.

Through eight events, Simpson (34 points), Park Gilbert (9.5), Soka (4), and OUAZ (1.5) rounded out the team standings.

With 14 events still to be scored on Saturday, the championship remains mathematically open, but Arizona Christian enters the final day in a strong position. The meet concludes with a full slate of finals, including sprints, distance races, relays, and key field events that will determine the 2026 GSAC champion.
