GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The stage is set for a top-seeded showdown at the GSAC Women’s Tennis Championships after No. 1 seed Lewis-Clark State and No. 2 seed Stanton each recorded 4-0 semifinal sweeps Friday at Paseo Racquet Center. Both teams controlled their matches from the outset, securing the doubles point before rolling through singles play to punch their tickets to the final.

Lewis-Clark State Sweeps OUAZ to Advance to GSAC Championship
Top-seeded Lewis-Clark State delivered a composed and efficient performance Friday morning, defeating No. 5 seed OUAZ 4-0 in the GSAC Women’s Tennis Semifinals to secure a spot in Saturday’s championship match.

The Warriors set the tone early in doubles play, claiming two of three courts to earn the opening point. The pairing of Carisa Liebenberg and Gwyn Heim opened with a decisive 6-1 win at No. 3, before OUAZ responded at No. 2 as Sienna Johnson and Antonia Kostoff earned a 6-3 victory. With the doubles point on the line, Lewis-Clark State’s Cheludo Monnayoo and Rylie Gettmann delivered a steady 6-3 win at the top position to give LCSC a 1-0 match lead.

Carrying that momentum into singles, Lewis-Clark State quickly took control. Liebenberg dominated at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-0 result to double the advantage, and Gettmann followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5. The clinching point came from Naiara Montero at No. 3, who secured a straight-sets 6-3, 6-3 victory to complete the sweep and send the Warriors through.

With the match decided, the remaining three singles contests went unfinished.

Stanton Sweeps Arizona Christian to Reach GSAC Championship
No. 2 seed Stanton put together a controlled, top-to-bottom performance Friday, defeating No. 3 seed Arizona Christian 4-0 in the GSAC Women’s Tennis Semifinals to secure a berth in the championship match.

Stanton gained the early edge by capturing the doubles point in competitive fashion. Paula Rodriguez and Cheyenne Houkes set the tone with a 6-0 win at No. 1, while Arizona Christian answered at No. 3 behind Eloise Bigot and Ava Zink, 6-1. The deciding court came down to No. 2, where Emilse Ruiz and Romy Pols closed out a 6-4 victory to give Stanton a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

In singles play, Stanton quickly separated. Kimmy Muanghpo extended the lead to 2-0 after a retirement at No. 6, and Rodriguez followed with a decisive 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3. The clinching point came from Ruiz at the top spot, as she delivered a 6-1, 6-3 victory to complete the sweep.

The remaining three singles matches were left unfinished following the clinch.

Saturday’s championship match will feature the tournament’s top two seeds, as Lewis-Clark State and Stanton meet at 10 a.m. at Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale. With both squads coming off dominant semifinal performances, the title clash sets up as a tightly contested battle for the GSAC crown.
