LOMPOC, Calif. — OUAZ remains in control of the team race, while Tytan Birchell moved into the individual lead following Tuesday’s second round of the 2026 GSAC Men’s Golf Championship at La Purisima Golf Course.
The Spirit hold a two-day total of 599 (+23) after posting a 302 (+14) in round two, maintaining a 15-shot lead over Embry-Riddle, which climbed into second at 614 (+38). Simpson also made a move up the leaderboard and sits third at 616 (+40), while The Master’s and Benedictine Mesa are tied for fourth at 621 (+45).

Individually, Birchell leads the field at 145 (+1) after backing up his opening 73 with an even-par 72, the low round among contenders on Tuesday. His performance gives OUAZ a strong position both individually and in the team standings.
Arizona Christian’s Hudson Hobbs sits second at 147 (+3) after following his opening-round lead with a 75 (+3). Benedictine Mesa’s Eric Klutke is third at 149 (+5) after a 73 (+1) in round two.
A tie for fourth at 150 (+6) includes Embry-Riddle’s Jonathan Tso and La Sierra’s Kyle Harford, while OUAZ’s Liam Toole is part of a group tied for sixth at 151 (+7).
OUAZ continues to show depth with four players inside the top 15, including Nick Erickson and Hayden Hah, who are both tied for ninth at 152 (+8). Embry-Riddle also placed multiple golfers inside the top 20, helping fuel its move into second.
Simpson’s climb into third is supported by consistent rounds across its lineup, with Trey Alwert and Ty Salvador both inside the top 15.
With one round remaining, OUAZ holds a comfortable margin in the team race, but several programs remain within striking distance of a top-three finish. In the individual competition, Birchell holds a two-shot edge heading into Wednesday’s final round at La Purisima.
