Glendale, Ariz.- Arizona Christian Flag Football delivered its second straight shutout with a commanding 28-0 victory over Benedictine Mesa on Thursday evening on the ACU Football Field.
The Firestorm (5-5, 5-2 GSAC) broke things open in the second half, scoring 21 points to secure the win. Quarterback CC Maccagnano led the offensive surge, throwing for 233 yards and four touchdowns against the Redhawks (2-6, 2-5 GSAC).
Aleena Tobar hauled in two touchdown receptions, while Mikayla Navarro posted a game-high 84 receiving yards and added a score of her own. Genesis Morales showcased her speed with a 37-yard touchdown catch, outrunning the defense to the end zone.
On the defensive side, the Firestorm continued their dominant stretch. Shana Hunton recorded a game high ten tackles to anchor the unit. Bella Huguez was disruptive in the backfield with two sacks.
ACU will enjoy a break from competition until after Easter when they face their California GSAC foes for the second time in a Jamboree format- this time hosted at OUAZ in Surprise. Arizona Christian and Hope International will start everyone off on Wednesday (April 8) at 8:00 am.
