Another exciting week of competition produced standout performances across multiple sports, as several athletes delivered exceptional results for their teams. From dominant pitching performances to explosive offensive displays and clutch defensive efforts, these athletes played key roles in their teams’ success. Here’s a look at this week’s Players of the Week across baseball, softball, volleyball, tennis, flag football, and beach volleyball. These awards are presented by Athletic Solutions.
Baseball Player of the Week
Isaiah Morales – The Master’s (Sr., SS)
Senior shortstop Isaiah Morales led The Master’s to a four-game sweep of Embry-Riddle with an incredible offensive performance. Morales hit an impressive .600 for the week, going 9-for-15 at the plate while adding two home runs, a double, and five RBIs. Even more remarkable was his discipline at the plate—he did not strike out once during the series and finished the week with a 1.714 OPS.
Morales recorded multiple hits in every game of the series, highlighted by a three-hit outing in the finale and a powerful performance on March 13 when he collected a double and a home run in an 11–1 victory. His consistency helped drive The Master’s offense throughout the series and played a major role in the team’s dominant weekend.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Josh Landry – Hope International (Sr., P)
Josh Landry delivered a masterclass on the mound in Hope International’s 3–1 victory over Benedictine Mesa. The senior right-hander tied his career high with 13 strikeouts while pitching a complete game. Landry allowed just three hits and one unearned run, and he did not issue a single walk.
His command was exceptional throughout the outing, recording at least one strikeout in every inning. The performance extended Landry’s remarkable streak to 22 consecutive innings without issuing a walk, demonstrating both control and dominance on the mound.
Softball Player of the Week
Dayna Herrera – Arizona Christian (Jr., P/3B)
Dayna Herrera delivered one of the most impressive all-around performances of the week, excelling both at the plate and in the circle for Arizona Christian. The junior hit .625 with three home runs and eight RBIs while also going 2–0 with a save as a pitcher.
Herrera’s offensive explosion included a three-hit game with two home runs and four RBIs in a 10–0 win over Park-Gilbert. In addition to her powerful hitting, she was equally dominant in the circle, pitching 13.1 innings while allowing just one earned run. Her eight home runs, 34 RBIs, and nine wins currently lead the conference.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Ava Greene – Embry-Riddle (Fr., RHP/1B)
Freshman pitcher Ava Greene played a key role in Embry-Riddle’s undefeated weekend, going 2–0 with a save while pitching 17.2 innings across three appearances. Greene allowed just two earned runs during that stretch, posting an outstanding 0.79 ERA.
Her week included a seven-inning shutout against La Sierra and an eight-inning effort in a 4–3 victory. Greene consistently kept hitters off balance and demonstrated impressive endurance for a freshman, helping lead the Eagles to a perfect weekend.
Men’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Horatio Maumasi – OUAZ (Jr., MB)
Horatio Maumasi powered OUAZ to a perfect 4–0 week with a dominant showing at the net. In just three matches, the junior middle blocker recorded 32 kills while hitting an impressive .553 attack percentage.
Maumasi also contributed defensively and from the service line, adding 14 blocks and two service aces. His all-around performance resulted in 41.5 total points for the week and provided a major boost for the Spirit’s undefeated run.
Men’s Volleyball Setter of the Week
Matthew Hamm – The Master’s (Sr., S)
Matthew Hamm orchestrated The Master’s offense with precision in a pair of straight-set victories. The senior setter compiled 81 assists across the two matches, averaging an impressive 13.5 assists per set.
Hamm’s playmaking helped keep the Mustangs’ attack flowing efficiently, while he also contributed defensively with four blocks and six digs during the week.
Men’s Volleyball Defender of the Week
Jack Hubbard – OUAZ (So., OH/OPP)
Jack Hubbard anchored the defensive effort for OUAZ during the team’s undefeated week. The sophomore recorded 15 total blocks and 10 digs across three matches, consistently keeping rallies alive and frustrating opposing attackers.
His timely defensive plays came at crucial moments throughout the week, helping the Spirit maintain momentum in several key matches.
Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Gautam Balakrishnan – Lewis-Clark State (So.)
Gautam Balakrishnan shined against NCAA Division I competition over the weekend. The sophomore helped Lewis-Clark State secure the doubles point against Sacramento State with a 6–2 victory in No. 3 doubles before clinching the match with a 7–6(7), 6–3 win at No. 5 singles.
Balakrishnan continued his strong play against Idaho State, earning another singles victory with a 6–3, 6–2 result. His performances highlighted his ability to compete at a high level against top-tier opponents.
Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Gwyn Heim – Lewis-Clark State (Jr.)
Gwyn Heim played a pivotal role in Lewis-Clark State’s successful weekend, collecting two singles wins and two doubles victories. The junior dominated at the No. 3 singles position, winning both matches while dropping no more than three games in either contest.
Her strong play helped the Warriors secure team wins over both the College of Idaho and Whitworth on the road.
Flag Football Offensive Player of the Week
CC Maccagnano – Arizona Christian (So., QB)
Quarterback CC Maccagnano delivered an explosive offensive performance, throwing nine touchdown passes across two games. In a dominant 47–6 win over OUAZ, Maccagnano completed 24 of 30 passes for 343 yards and six touchdowns.
She followed that performance with another strong outing against Nevada State, throwing for 328 yards and three touchdowns. Over the two games, Maccagnano totaled 671 passing yards while leading Arizona Christian’s high-powered offense.
Flag Football Defensive Player of the Week
Shea Gonzalez – Arizona Christian (Fr., DB)
Freshman defensive back Shea Gonzalez made a major impact on both sides of the ball for Arizona Christian. Gonzalez recorded two interceptions during the week, including a pick-six against OUAZ.
Defensively, she totaled seven flag pulls, while also contributing offensively with three receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown. Her versatility and playmaking ability were key factors in Arizona Christian’s strong performances.
Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week
Maya Blake & Eliana Dean – OUAZ
The duo of Maya Blake and Eliana Dean continued their dominant season by going 3–0 at the No. 1 position during OUAZ’s perfect weekend. The pair earned straight-set victories over Park-Gilbert, Arizona Christian, and No. 10 Benedictine Mesa.
Blake and Dean improved their season doubles record to 13–2 and their school record as a pair to 14–1, showcasing their chemistry and consistency against top competition.
