ACU And Morningside Battle To Deadlock In 12 Inning Marathon

Glendale, Ariz.- In a wild extra-inning thriller, ACU and Morningside University played to a dramatic 10-10 tie after 12 innings on Tuesday night. Both teams exchanged blows throughout the game, with late-inning heroics keeping the game deadlocked. After a four-hour game, both coaches decided to end in a tie due to the lights in the stadium turning off at midnight. This is the first tie in baseball program history for the Firestorm.

Inside The Game
  • In the bottom of the third inning with the Firestorm down 4 runs, Edmonds and Ivy both get hits to get on base. Fukofuka comes up as the next batter and hits a single up the middle, scoring both Ivy and Edmonds, earning 2 RBI. 
  • Later that same inning, Fukofuka scored on a wild pitch. Morningside still led 5-3 at the end of the third inning. 
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, Fukofuka reached first on an error by the first baseman. With a runner on base, Tarver hit a two-run home run to add to the score. Morningside still led the game, 7-3 at the end of the fifth inning. 
  • In the seventh inning, the Firestorm added another run after Kiaunis scored on the throwing error. ACU now down just a single run, 7-6. 
  • Bottom of the ninth inning, Eastham tied the game after hitting a bomb to left center. The game was now tied, 7-7. 
  • In the top of the tenth inning, Morningside added three more runs to the board. The Mustangs took the lead, 10-7. 
  • In the bottom of the tenth inning, the Firestorm's bats were hot. Tarver hit another two-run home run and Kiaunis homered as well. The game was now tied, 10-10. 
  • With neither team able to score before the coaches called the game after four hours, the final score was 10-10 after 12 innings.

On Friday, the Firestorm will head to California to face Hope International for a doubleheader at 12pm and 3pm.
