The Great Southwest Athletic Conference has announced its Players of the Week following standout performances across men's basketball and women's basketball. These awards are presented by Athletic Solutions.
MBB Offensive Player of the Week – Nick Hopkins, Hope International (Sr., G – Los Angeles, Calif.)
Senior guard Nick Hopkins delivered a standout week, averaging 20.5 points on 53.8% shooting to lead HIU through a grueling road trip that included an overnight stay at LAX and arriving to Oregon Tech just an hour before tipoff. He erupted for a season-high 26 points in the Royals’ upset of No. 19 OIT, shooting 9-of-14 and adding three boards, two assists, and a block. Less than 18 hours later, he scored a team-high 15 points against Southern Oregon, finishing the week with 41 total points and proving to be HIU’s steady offensive force despite extreme circumstances.
MBB Defensive Player of the Week – Jasper Reinalda, La Sierra (Sr., C – Corvallis, Ore.)
Jasper Reinalda earned Defensive Player of the Week honors with a dominant interior performance, recording his third straight double-double in La Sierra’s 73–65 win over West Coast Baptist. The senior center posted 22 points on 68.8% shooting and controlled the paint with 21 rebounds—16 of them defensive—while adding two blocks and a steal. His overwhelming presence down low dictated the game and highlighted him as one of the conference’s premier defensive anchors.
WBB Offensive Player of the Week – Izabella Forker, The Master’s (So., PG – Telford, Pa.)
Izabella Forker fueled The Master’s to two decisive wins and earned Northstar Classic All-Tournament honors by averaging 12.0 points on 52.9% shooting while elevating the offense with elite playmaking. She opened with 14 points, 8 assists, and 5 steals against Stanton (CA), then followed with 10 points and an impressive 12 assists and 12 rebounds at Alaska Fairbanks. Totaling 24 points, 20 assists, and 14 boards over two games, Forker’s efficient scoring and commanding floor leadership made her the week’s top offensive standout.
WBB Defensive Player of the Week – Alli VanKooten, The Master’s (Jr., C – Lynden, Wash.)
Alli VanKooten anchored The Master’s defensively across three wins, averaging 9.3 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals while adding 14.3 points per game. She opened the week with 9 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 blocks against Stanton (CA), then grabbed 8 more boards in a defensive battle with Hawaii Hilo before exploding for a career-high 30 points and 11 rebounds at Alaska Fairbanks. With 28 total rebounds, 6 steals, and 6 blocks, VanKooten’s consistent interior dominance earned her Defensive Player of the Week honors.
