On Monday morning, the Golden State Athletic Conference announced the 2023-24 GSAC Administrators of the Year. These administrators were selected by their peers based on the impact they've had on their campus, impact they've made on a national scale, and contributions to the conference office. The four award winners will now move forward for national consideration at NAIA Awards Day.
Athletic Director of the Year - Peter Dryer (Arizona Christian)
This is the second straight year that Dryer has won this award. Dryer is in his fifth season as the Firestorms' Athletic Director. On campus, Dryer oversees all 24 varsity sports that ACU offers as well as multiple club sports. Dryer has also played a key role in the development of the ACU athletic facilities on their campus in Glendale. In the conference, Dryer assisted with hosting the 2023 Women's Soccer Tournament and the 2024 GSAC Men's & Women's Tennis Tournaments. The Firestorm Athletic Director also serves on the following conference committees: conducts & ethics and awards. The GSAC AD of the Year also holds a PhD in Leadership specializing in Sport Administration.
Co-Athletic Trainer of the Year - Hannah Mason (Life Pacific)
Hannah Mason has made a significant impact on LPU's campus in her first year in San Dimas and her hard work has been recognized by her peers. Upon her arrival at Life Pacific, Mason incorporated a system for student-athletes to schedule when they will come in for evaluation, rehab, and injury prevention. This change helped increase efficiency in the LPU training room. Mason also revamped and established policies and procedures that has added tremendous value to the athletic department. Some of those items include, Emergency Action Plans (EAP) for all facilities on campus, liability waivers, and concussion testing protocols. Mason was also a huge asset to the conference office as the lead AT during the 2023 Women's Volleyball Tournament and the 2024 GSAC Baseball Tournament.
Co-Athletic Trainer of the Year - Darin Voigt (Vanguard)
Darin Voigt has been selected as the Athletic Trainer of the Year for the third time in his career. Voigt also won the award in 2019 and 2022. Voigt started in 2005 and has built the Sports Medicine program into a thriving initiative of preparing athletes for intercollegiate sports participation. Voigt has also taught classes as an adjunct professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Vanguard. Voigt has been a key voice in the GSAC AT room for many years and his services will be missed in the future. Voigt and his athletic training staff were responsible treating the student-athletes at the 2024 GSAC Beach Volleyball Tournament.
Sheri Pine Sports Information Director of the Year - Dave Caldwell (The Master's)
Dave Caldwell wins his first ever SID of the Year award after just finishing his third year at The Master's University. Caldwell came to TMU after serving as a Public Relations Officer from 20215-2022 at the Hart Union School District. Caldwell has broadcasted hundreds of Mustangs games. In 2023-24, Caldwell help run the sports information operations for the GSAC Cross Country Championship, GSAC Men's Volleyball Tournament, and the GSAC Track & Field Championship.
