The conference office released the GSAC Men's Soccer All-Conference Team and award winners on Thursday. The coaches voted Trent Rickard of The Master’s Player of the Year and Noah Yalu from Park Gilbert Freshman of the Year. Joe Lurker of Hope International was selected Coach of the Year.
GSAC coaches vote on the All-Conference team, which consists of seven forwards, seven midfielders, six defenders, and two goalkeepers.
Rickard secured Player of the Year honors after leading the GSAC during the regular season with 15 goals and 33 points. He has a pair of hat tricks as part of six multi-goal games and recorded eight points – three goals and two assists – in a win over OUAZ on Oct. 24. His 73 shots lead the conference with three game-winning goals.
Yalu used his one goal and five assists to earn honors for Freshman of the Year. He closed the regular season with an assist in three of the final five games. His five assists rank fourth in the GSAC.
Lurker earned Coach of the Year after guiding Hope International to the GSAC regular season title with a 9-2-3 record in conference play. The Royals are 12-3-3 overall, and they enter the GSAC Men’s Soccer Tournament having won four straight. This is his second GSAC Coach of the Year award in the past three seasons.
