The GSAC Women's Soccer All-Conference Team and award winners were released by the conference office on Wednesday. Hope International’s Christiane Sundstrom was voted Player of the Year, and Breanna Fajardo from The Master’s was voted Freshman of the Year. Todd Poitras of Embry-Riddle was selected Coach of the Year.
GSAC coaches vote on the All-Conference team, which consists of seven forwards, seven midfielders, six defenders, and two goalkeepers.
Sundstrom repeated as GSAC Player of the Year after leading the conference with 20 goals, 13 assists, and 53 points during the regular season. She is also the GSAC leader with seven game-winning goals and with 79 shots and 41 shots on goal. Sundstrom scored a goal in 13 of the Royals’ 17 games played with one hat trick and six multi-goal games.
Fajardo ranks third in the GSAC with seven assists and sixth with 21 points. She has tallied seven goals during the season, including a brace at Arizona Christian on September 25. Fajardo opened the season with at least one point in 10 of the first 12 games played.
Poitras earned Coach of the Year honors after guiding Embry-Riddle to the GSAC regular season crown in the program’s first season in the conference. The Eagles went 12-1-1 during conference play and enter the postseason with a 13-2-3 overall record.
