On Monday morning, the GSAC Baseball All-Conference and Gold Glove teams were released honoring some of the top players in the conference. The All-Conference and Gold Glove teams are voted upon by the GSAC Coaches based on players performance throughout the entire 2023 season. The All-Conference team is headlined by Hope International University duo Hector Garcia (Pitcher of the Year) and Maxfield Jung-Goldberg (Player of the Year). The GSAC Freshman of the Year was Tyler Gordon (Vanguard) and the GSAC Coach of the Year was Tyler LaTorre (Westmont).
?Maxfield Jung-Goldberg, the GSAC Player of the Year, has led the Royals offense this spring. The senior is batting .463 which is good for best in the conference. Jung-Goldberg also leads the GSAC in On Base Percentage (.590) and Slugging Percentage (.800). The Royals leader at the plate has nine home runs, 44 RBI's and has been walked 32 times.
GSAC Pitcher of the Year, Hector Garcia, has been dominant on the mound all season as he leads the conference with a 1.62 ERA. The junior also leads the GSAC in strikeouts per game, ringing up 15.43 batters per appearance. Garcia has held conference opponents to a stingy .119 batting average.
Tyler Gordon, the GSAC Freshman of the Year, has made a huge impact in the Lions lineup during his first year in Costa Mesa. Gordon has batted .358 (8th in GSAC) at the plate this spring and has stolen 15 bases. Gordon also gets it done defensively ranking 5th with 92 assists.
Tyler LaTorre, the GSAC Coach of the Year, led the Westmont Warriors to a GSAC Regular Season Championship during his first season in Santa Barbara. LaTorre and the Warriors currently rank 11th in the NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll. Westmont went 20-4 in GSAC play and currently sit at 37-8 as they head into the conference tournament as the #1 overall seed.
