CHANDLER, AZ
Menlo traveled to the desert this weekend to take part in the Cactus Classic, and the team’s first opponent was the Rocky Mountain College Battlin’ Bears. The Oaks’ 72-63 victory moves their overall record this season to 10-3.
Landon Seaman continued his recent string of excellent performances with a team-leading 15 points and 8 rebounds. The junior forward, who shot 7-for-9 from the floor, has led the charge for Menlo in recent weeks, and shows no signs of slowing down. Seaman currently has the second-highest shooting percentage among GSAC men’s basketball players, 68.6%, going 72-for-105 overall.
Three of Menlo’s players who came off the bench scored 11 points each: Nick High, Kareem Rowe, and Corey Le’aupepe. In a game Menlo won by 9 points, the Oaks scored 41 bench points to the Bears’ 20. Nick High also totaled 7 rebounds in the game, the second-most by any Oak, despite playing just 20 of the 40 available minutes.
Menlo will remain in Arizona for 2 more games, the first of which is against the University of Providence on Sunday, December 18th. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM PST.
