Men's Basketball 12/14/2022 8:56:00 PM Road Win Completes Season Sweep of Redhawks PHOENIX – Behind five players in double figures, the OUAZ men's basketball team never trailed in defeating Benedictine Mesa 87-64 on Wednesday night to complete a season sweep of the Redhawks. OUAZ (7-4) shot 48.6 percent from the field with 52 points in the paint. They went on a 20-4 run midway through the first half and kept the lead in double figures the rest of the night. Josiah De'laCerda led the Spirit with 19 points on 7 of 15 shooting. He made both of his attempts from three while grabbing eight rebounds and two steals. McKay Bundy had 12 points off the bench to match the 12 from Alex Villi. They also got 10 points from Kolten Hitt and Devin Collins. The Spirit held Benedictine Mesa (3-8) to 36.5 percent shooting and 3 of 12 from beyond the arc. OUAZ used 17 steals to help force 24 turnovers which they turned into 24 points. Collins grabbed nine rebounds to become the first player in program history with 500 career rebounds. Hitt had three steals to move within four of becoming the program's all-time leader in the category. Tre Carolina scored 15 points to lead BenU Mesa. Next for the Spirit is a Friday afternoon tilt with Rocky Mountain in the first of three games the team will play at the Cactus Classic in Chandler.
