The 2022 Golden State Athletic Conference Men's Soccer All-Conference Team was announced today and Hope International senior Jesus Vargas leads the squad of 24 as the GSAC Player of the Year.  Vargas' teammate Dario Robles was selected as the GSAC Freshman of the Year and HIU Head Coach Joe Lurker was voted as Coach of the Year.

Vargas has anchored a Royal defense that has recorded nine shutouts this season and enabled Hope International to share the GSAC regular season crown.  Vargas has started in all 16 games he has played in and has tallied two goals and one assist on the season.  He becomes just the second Royal to win Player of the Year honors, joining Thales Serra who won the award in 2016.

Midfielder Dario Robles has had an outstanding freshman campaign.  Robles tied for the conference lead during the regular season in goals, scoring nine times and assisting on three others for 21 points.  Robles also leads the GSAC with 34 shots on goal through the regular season.  Robles has been selected as GSAC Player of the Week twice, including the October 17 award when he recorded two game winning goals the previous weekend against The Master's and Westmont.

Lurker is in his thirteenth season with Hope International, guiding the Royals to a 11-2-4 regular season mark and 6-1-2 league record.  This is the second time Lurker has been recognized with the top honor by his peers, having previously won the award in 2014.
