Allie Puente Award Pitcher of the Week Week Of 4/17/2023 Sport Softball School Hope International Year Junior Position Right-Handed Pitcher Hometown Fresno, CA High School Puente, the Royals all time strikeouts leader, continued to excel last week as she helped lead the Royals to four victories this week while appearing in six games. In her first outing of the week against Saint Katherine she pitched a complete game 5 innings allowing just one hit while striking out 10 as she picked up the win. She then topped her no hitter performance from the previous week in the second game of the week as she threw her first perfect game of the season against Antelope Valley pitching a complete game 7 innings while striking out 17 of 21 batters. In the next game she made a relief appearance pitching 5 1/3 innings while striking out 9 but received the loss. She bounced back in her next outing pitching 7 shutout innings allowing just three hits while striking out 12 in a win over Jessup. Then she pitched in both games against Menlo pitching 5 innings of relief in the first game while allowing just two hits and striking out 10. Then she picked up the win in the second game throwing a complete game 8 innings while allowing two runs and striking out 9. She went 4-1 during the week with an ERA of .75 while striking out 67 batters. Puente leads the NAIA in strikeouts with 288 and wins with 21, and is third in ERA with a 0.60.
