    • Pitcher of the Week
      • Melanie Ahumada – California Baptist
      • Senior – 5-7 – RH Pitcher – Yorba Linda, Calif.
      • Senior pitcher Melanie Ahumada allowed only 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 16 in 12.1 innings of work as No. 1-ranked California Baptist remained undefeated in 29 games this season. After facing 2 batters to finish the win over Biola, she had a 5-inning, no-hitter with 7 strikeouts in a win over Tennessee Wesleyan the next day. Ahumada then tossed a 2-hit shutout, striking out 8 in a win on the road over No. 3 Point Loma Nazarene.

      • Katie Carson – Concordia
      • Sophomore – 5-10 – First Base – Mission Viejo, Calif.
      • Sophomore Katie Carson drove in 18 runs from the leadoff spot in the lineup, and also scored 11 runs to compliment 5 extra-base hits, including a pair of home runs, as No. 11-ranked Concordia won 7-of-8 games last week. For the week, she was 14-for-28 (.500) at the plate with a double, 2 triples, 2 homers and 3 walks. Carson cracked a 3-run shot and drove in another run in a 4-0 win over Hope International, and hit a 3-run triple against Vanguard in a 7-5 victory.

      • Hannah Faria – Point Loma Nazarene
      • Freshman – 5-9 – Pitcher – Murrieta, Calif.
      • Freshman Hanna Faria pitched in 2 games last week and allowed just 2 hits over 11 innings and struck out 4 batters. She tossed 4 shutout innings against Doane NE and then blanked No. 11-ranked Concordia on 1 hit in a complete game that the Sea Lions won 1-0. Against Concordia she gave up an infield hit to the first batter of the game, who just beat the throw to first, and didn’t allow another hit.

      • Caty Reeves – California Baptist
      • Junior – 5-10 – Catcher – Corvallis, Ore.
      • Sophomore Caty Reeves was 8-for-17 (.471) at the plate with 3 runs, a double, 2 home runs and 8 RBI as California Baptist went 6-1 on the week with wins over No. 11 Concordia and No. 2 Dickinson State ND. The Lancers also had 2 wins over 2009 NAIA Tournament participant Hastings NE. Reeves hit the game-tying home run in the sixth inning against Dickinson State to bring the Lancers all the way back from a 6-0 deficit to an 8-6 win.

      • Sophomore – 5-9 – Pitcher – Murrieta, Calif.
      • Sophomore Tory Ferreira earned 3 complete-game wins for No. 1 California Baptist last week. In 17 innings of work, she gave up 7 hits, 2 walks and 1 run while striking out 11 batters. Ferreira had a perfect game against Vanguard and nearly had a second against Hope International giving up 2 hits and 1 walk. Ferreira was named the NAIA Softball Pitcher of the Week.

      • Senior Ashley Boyd was 10-for-17 (.588) at the plate with 5 home runs, 9 runs, and 11 RBIs as NAIA No. 1-ranked California Baptist won all 6 of its games last week. She had a home run and 2 RBI in the 2 wins against Vanguard and another home run and 3 RBI in the win against Hamline MN. Boyd finished the week with 3 home runs and 5 RBI in the doubleheader wins against Hope International.

      • Sophomore – 5-7 – Pitcher – Paso Robles, Calif.
      • Senior Stacie Salazar pitched a 3-hit shutout over William Jessup, accounting for 1 of Vanguard’s 3 wins last week. Including a brief relief appearance against Simpson, Salazar pitched 8 scoreless innings, allowing only 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 8 batters.

      • Sheyna Alarcon – Hope International
      • Senior – 5-8 – Catcher – Indio, Calif.
      • Senior Sheyna Alarcon was 5-for-14 (.357) at the plate including 2 walk-off hits as Hope International won 3-of-4 games last week. Alarcon delivered the final blow on a single in the eighth to help the Royals sweep Biola. She singled back up the middle to drive home 2 runs again in the second game against William Jessup. The Royals came back to win the game after entering the seventh down 3-1. For the week, she had 2 runs, a double and 5 RBI.

      • Tyler Lent – Point Loma Nazarene
      • Senior – 5-8 – Pitcher – San Bernardino, Calif.
      • Senior Tyler Lent of No. 3 Point Loma Nazarene allowed just 1 run in 13 innings pitched last week. She dropped a 1-0 decision to No. 16 Cal State San Marcos and then came within 2 outs of a perfect game against Hope International. The All-American settled for a complete-game, 1-hit shutout. Lent fanned 12 Royal batters in the contest, equaling a career-high.

      • Sarah Hurlbut – California Baptist
      • Senior – 5-7 – Left Fielder – Concord, Calif.
      • Senior Sarah Hurlbut had a grand slam to spark a 10-run second inning as NAIA No. 1-ranked California Baptist swept a doubleheader at Biola and retains sole possession of first place in the GSAC. In the 2 games, the left fielder was 3-for-5 (.600) at the plate with 3 runs, a walk, a homerun and 4 RBI.

      • Sophomore pitcher Emma Holden faced No. 5-ranked Point Loma Nazarene and No. 8 Concordia and pitched 10.2 innings for her 3 wins last week. She entered all 3 games in relief after starters had given up runs. Holden held the GSAC opponents to no earned runs, 1 walk and only 2 hits while striking out 14.

      • Senior Ashley Boyd went 9-for-15 (.600) at the plate with 8 runs, 4 home runs, 8 RBI, 22 total bases and a slugging percentage of 1.467 as No. 1-ranked California Baptist won all 4 of its games to clinch the 2010 GSAC Championship. In the sweep of No. 5 Point Loma Nazarene, the shortstop was 5-for-8 (.625) with 3 home runs and 5 RBI. In the doubleheader wins over No. 8 Concordia, she had 5 runs, a double, a home run and 3 RBI. She hit home runs off 3 top GSAC pitchers, none of whom had previously allowed a home run this season. Boyd was selected as the NAIA Softball Player of the Week.

      • Freshman – 5-4 – Pitcher – Irvine, Calif.
      • Freshman Rita Kim did not give up a run in 11.1 innings of work last week while striking out 10 batters, leading Azusa Pacific to a pair of victories, including a complete-game shutout of No. 8-ranked Point Loma Nazarene. She came within 2 outs of a perfect 5-inning game against Hope International. The opponents batted .158 vs. Kim for the week.

      • Freshman – 5-8 – Outfielder – Livermore, Calif.
      • Freshman outfielder Rachel Miller of Azusa Pacific hit a 2-run home run, her third of the season, in the 4-0 victory over Hope International and then hit a 2-out single in the top of the seventh to score the game’s only run in the Cougars’ 1-0 victory over No. 8-ranked Point Loma Nazarene. For the week, she was 6-for-8 (.750) at the plate with a home run and 5 RBI.
