Biola Claims Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

Sophomore ~ 6-1 ~ Goalkeeper ~ Rancho Bernardo, Calif.

Goalkeeper Aaron Fenlason had 6 saves and allowed only 1 goal in 200 minutes of work as No. 19-ranked Biola won a pair of matches to advance to its first GSAC Tournament Finals in program history. The sophomore made 5 saves while facing 12 shots as the Eagles and Vanguard played to a 1-1 draw in the first round of the GSAC tournament. In the shootout, he saved the first shot as Biola advanced 4-2 on penalty kicks. Fenlason then recorded a 1-0 shutout in the semifinals at No. 9 Azusa Pacific for the second time this season. It was his school-record 11th shutout of the season, and he lowered his goals against average to 0.64, which is second best in the conference. Fenlason is the NAIA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Kennedy Chongo recorded a goal and an assist in 2 matches last week to help Biola advance to the GSAC Tournament finals. The junior scored the lone goal in the Eagles’ 1-1 draw with Vanguard in the first round. Chongo then assisted on the match-winning goal against at Azusa Pacific with just 33 seconds left in the scoreless semifinal. Chongo now has 8 goals and 4 assists on the season.
