Senior Ashley Boyd was 10-for-17 (.588) at the plate with 5 home runs, 9 runs, and 11 RBIs as NAIA No. 1-ranked California Baptist won all 6 of its games last week. She had a home run and 2 RBI in the 2 wins against Vanguard and another home run and 3 RBI in the win against Hamline MN. Boyd finished the week with 3 home runs and 5 RBI in the doubleheader wins against Hope International.

Brandon Young ~ Vanguard
Junior ~ 6-1 ~ Centerfielder ~ Saugus, Calif.
Junior Brandon Young batted .769 (10-for-13) with 3 home runs, 1 triple, 9 runs scored and 11 RBIs as Vanguard won 3-of-4 games against Biola last week. The centerfielder had 3 hits in each of the first 3 games. Young ripped 2 home runs, including a grand slam and a solo shot, in the first game of the Saturday doubleheader, leading the Lions with 7 RBIs in the 20-7 victory. Vanguard is currently in second place in the GSAC.

The GSAC sent
8 teams to the
NAIA Division I Men’s & Women’s Basketball Championship Tournaments in Kansas City, Missouri, and Jackson, Tennessee, respectively, and together the teams won
14 games. The
Biola men’s team and the
Vanguard women’s team advanced to the quarterfinals. The
Azusa Pacific men’s and women’s teams each advanced to the championship game and each had 2 athletes on their respective all-tournament teams. It was only the second time in NAIA Division I basketball history that the same school had both its men’s and women’s teams in the finals. NAIA post-season honors were announced. The GSAC had 3 men and 3 women named as NAIA First-Team All-Americans, including
Bridgette Reyes of Vanguard, NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Co-Player of the Year. Others were selected as second and third team All-Americans and several earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors. To see the complete lists of GSAC honorees, go to

Junior ~ 5-10 ~ Catcher ~ Corvallis, Ore.
Junior Caty Reeves was 8-for-17 (.471) at the plate with 3 runs, a double, 2 home runs and 8 RBI as California Baptist went 6-1 on the week with wins over No. 11 Concordia and No. 2 Dickinson State ND. The Lancers also had 2 wins over 2009 NAIA Tournament participant Hastings NE. Reeves hit the game-tying home run in the sixth inning against Dickinson State to bring the Lancers all the way back from a 6-0 deficit to an 8-6 win.
