Jameisha Washington scored 2 of Westmont’s 3 goals last week as the Warriors’ won both of it GSAC games on the road. The junior midfielder scored the first of Westmont’s goals in a 2-1 double overtime win at No. 2-ranked Azusa Pacific. Then Washington scored the golden goal in a 1-0 win at Hope International in the final 30 seconds of the first overtime.

Junior goalkeeper Roxanne Love’s strong performance in goal helped the Warriors to a 2-1 double-overtime road-victory at No. 2 Azusa Pacific, with 8 saves and only 1 goal allowed in 109:59 minutes of play. She also had a fine performance in an overtime road-victory at Hope International with 7 saves in 99 minutes in goal. Her goals-against-average for the week was 0.43. Love was selected the NAIA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Sophomore ~ 6-3 ~ Forward ~ Hesperia, Calif.

Sophomore forward Cito Soriano tallied 8 points for the Cougars last week with 3 goals and 2 assists. He scored both Azusa Pacific goals, including the overtime game-winner in a 2-1 win over Westmont. He then added a goal and 2 assists in the Cougars’ 8-0 victory over San Diego Christian.

Junior ~ 6-1 ~ Opposite Hitter ~ Fountain Valley, Calif.

Junior Amber Ridens had 32 kills (4.57 k/g), 6 assist blocks, and 2 aces as No. 4 Concordia won both its conference matches last week. She had 11 kills in a 3-game sweep of Hope International. The team leader with 3.19 kills per game throughout the year, totaled 21 kills against Westmont, including 7 kills in game 4, as the Eagles held on for the 3-1 victory.

Sunbird Men’s Basketball Expected to Repeat

Reigning GSAC Champion Fresno Pacific, with 119 points and 9 first place votes, is the top pick in the GSAC men’s basketball coaches’ preseason poll. The Sunbirds are led by 2009 GSAC Player of the Year and NAIA First-Team All-American James Lewis and 2009 GSAC Coach of the Year Jim Saia. Also receiving 1 first-place vote each were Concordia and Biola. The complete results are:
