Senior Dorchella James recorded 2 double-doubles, averaging 27 points and 12 rebounds as San Diego Christian split its GSAC games last week. For the week, she was 19-for-38 (.500), including 7-for-11 (.636) from 3-point range, and 9-for-12 (.750) at the free throw line. In the loss to No. 23-ranked Azusa Pacific, James scored 35 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out 4 assists and stole the ball 5 times. In the win at Hope International, she had 19 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 blocked shot. James was selected as the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Hampton Earns Men’s Weekly Award

Junior Rocky Hampton averaged 19.5 points and 8 rebounds to lead Biola to a pair of upset wins over nationally-ranked GSAC teams last week. For the week, he shot 16-for-25 (.640) from the field and 7-for-7 at the line. At No. 23-ranked The Master’s, Hampton scored a season-high 25 points and added 9 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. In that game he was 10-of-14 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free throw line. In the 67-64 win over No. 15-ranked California Baptist, he scored 14 points and had 7 rebounds.

Planeta Double-Doubles GSAC & NAIA Honors

Junior Colleen Planeta has earned BOTH the GSAC and NAIA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season with 2 double-doubles in 2 GSAC wins for No. 21-ranked Point Loma Nazarene last week. For the week, Planeta scored 44 points (22.0 ppg), while shooting 18-for-37 (.486) from the field, including 2-for-5 (.400) from 3-point range, and 6-for-8 (.750) at the line, as well as 27 rebounds (13.5 rpg), 13 blocks (6.5 bpg), 4 steals and 2 assists. In the win against Concordia, she recorded a double-double with 23 points and 17 rebounds, as well as 7 blocks and 4 steals. In the upset victory at No. 10-ranked Westmont, she recorded here GSAC-leading tenth double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, as well as 6 blocks. Planeta leads the NAIA with 22.88 points per game. In the GSAC, she leads in scoring and blocks (5.06 bpg), then is second in rebounding (10.3 rpg), and third in field goal percentage (.558). Carlson Comes Back for Men’s Weekly Honor

Senior Curtis Carlson led Point Loma Nazarene to a pair of comeback wins in conference play last week with back-to-back double-doubles. For the week, Carlson scored 33 points (16.5 ppg) while shooting 14-for-24 (.583) from the field, and grabbed 27 rebounds (13.5 rpg), dished out 9 assists, and had a steal He registered 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 assists as the Sea Lions overcame a 13-point deficit against Concordia to win in overtime. Carlson then had 12 points and 13 rebounds on the road in the 72-64 upset win over No. 14-ranked Westmont after being down by 12.
