Concordia, which is ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, and Azusa Pacific have advanced to the NAIA Softball Championship Tournament in Gulf Shores, Alabama. NAIA Tennis Championships Set

The GSAC has 11 men’s and women’s tennis teams competing at the NAIA Tennis National Championship in Mobile, Alabama, May 15-19. The No. 1-seed in the men’s tennis tournament is Fresno Pacific and on the women’s side, Fresno Pacific, which is undefeated all-time in GSAC play (102-0), is the No. 2-seed. Also competing from the GSAC are the men’s and women’s teams from Azusa Pacific, Concordia, Point Loma Nazarene, and Vanguard, and the men’s team from Westmont. NAIA Baseball Opening Rounds

The NAIA Baseball Opening Rounds take place at 9 sites around the United States, May 10-12, and on May 14, if necessary. The winners of each 5-team double-elimination tournament will advance to the NAIA Baseball World Series with host Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston, Idaho. Azusa Pacific is the No. 1 seed as the host of an opening round. Concordia is the top seed at the opening round hosted by Indiana Wesleyan in Marion, Indiana, while Biola is the No. 3 seed at the bracket hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical in Daytona Beach, Florida. Spring Scholar-Athletes Secure Awards

The All-GSAC Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams have been selected. Bettina Radke of Concordia is the GSAC Women’s Tennis Most Outstanding Player and Mark Bohren of Azusa Pacific is the GSAC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year.

Xavier Smith

Xavier Smith of Fresno Pacific is the GSAC Men’s Tennis Most Outstanding Player. Neil Castro of the 2012 GSAC Men’s Tennis Champions and NAIA No. 1-ranked Fresno Pacific is the GSAC Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year. Concordia Earns Automatic Bid to Nationals

Unaffiliated Group Tournament Winner Concordia

A total of 6 teams, 4 from the GSAC and 2 from the Cal-Pac, competed in the Unaffiliated Group Softball Tournament. GSAC Champion and NAIA No. 1-ranked Concordia won the tournament and has received an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship Softball Tournament at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex in Gulf Shores, Alabama, May 17-23. Azusa Pacific also received an at-large berth.

2012 GSAC Baseball Tournament Champion Concordia

Concordia remained unbeaten in tournament play by defeating No. 1-seed Azusa Pacific 7-6 to win the GSAC Baseball Tournament for the second straight year. Concordia earns the conference’s automatic bid to an NAIA Championship Opening Round Tournament. Azusa Pacific and Biola received at-large berths. The winners of the 9 NAIA Championship Opening Round Tournaments that will be held around the country next week will advance to the NAIA World Series along with host Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston, Idaho, May 25 to June 1. Jordan Leyland

The All-GSAC Baseball Team and Gold Glove Team have been announced. Jordan Leyland of Azusa Pacific is the GSAC Player of the Year.

Charlie Gillies

Leyland led the conference in home runs (20), RBIs (64), slugging percentage (.855), and runs scored (62). Charlie Gillies of The Master’s is the GSAC Pitcher of the Year. Gillies led the conference with a 1.94 ERA and recorded the most strikeouts (108). Coach Paul Svagdis, who led Azusa Pacific to the 2012 GSAC Championship is the Baseball Coach of the Year.
