GSAC Players of the Week September 24, 2007   WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER LINDSEY MERRETT ~ California Baptist University Junior ~ 5-7 ~ Forward ~ Riverside, California Junior Lindsey Merrett scored her first collegiate hat trick in the first 25 minutes of California Baptist's 4-0 victory over La Sierra. Merrett was named the NAIA Region II Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER JILLIAN FOSS ~ Vanguard University Sophomore ~ 5-5 ~ Goalkeeper ~ Oceanside, California Sophomore Jillian Foss recorded her third straight shutout this season, collecting 5 saves in No. 16-ranked Vanguard's 1-0 overtime win against Westmont.  Foss was selected as the NAIA Region II Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.   MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER JON FIELDING ~ Point Loma Nazarene University Sophomore ~ 5-9 ~ Midfielder ~ Scunthorpe, England Sophomore midfielder Jon Fielding assisted on Point Loma Nazarene's first goal and then hit the game-winner in a 3-1 upset of No. 6-ranked Fresno Pacific. The Sea Lions remain unbeaten on the season.  Fielding was chosen as the NAIA Region II Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER GARETH MOORE ~ Point Loma Nazarene University Sophomore ~ 6-1 ~ Defender ~ Temecula, California Sophomore defender Gareth Moore was a key factor in the Point Loma Nazarene defense yielding just 6 shots total, 3 on goal, in a 3-1 victory over No. 6 Fresno Pacific. Moore also headed in the Sea Lion's first goal.  Moore was named the NAIA Region II Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.   VOLLEYBALL PLAYER TRACI WEAMER ~ Concordia University Junior ~ 6-1 ~ Outside Hitter ~ Upland, California Junior outside hitter Traci Weamer recorded back-to-back double-doubles as No. 3-ranked Concordia won both of its conference matches last week.  For the week, she tallied 27 kills (3.9 k/g) with a .271 hitting percentage, 35 digs (5.0 d/g), 2 assists, 2 aces, and 5 assist blocks.  In the win against No. 17 Vanguard, she had 16 kills and 19 digs.  Then on the road at Biola, Weamer had 11 kills and 16 digs.  Weamer was selected as the NAIA Region II Women's Volleyball Player of the Week. VOLLEYBALL SETTER KAYLA VAN DUYN ~ California Baptist University Senior ~ 5-10 ~ Setter ~ Ripon, California Senior setter Kayla Van Duyn tallied 89 assists (12.7 a/g), 18 digs, 3 kills, and 5 assist blocks as No. 2-ranked California Baptist won both of its GSAC matches on the road last week.  She had 49 assists in the 3-game sweep at Westmont, and 40 assists in the 5-game match at Azusa Pacific. VOLLEYBALL LIBERO CHELSEA SCOTT ~ Concordia University Sophomore ~ 5-6 ~ Libero ~ Sonoma, California Sophomore libero Chelsea Scott registered 33 digs (4.7 d/g) as Concordia won both of its matches over nationally-ranked GSAC opponents.  She had a .908 passing percentage and a .970 serve reception percentage.  Scott's passing percentage for the season is over .900.  Scott was chosen as the NAIA Region II Women's Volleyball Libero of the Week.
