SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYERFreshman ~ 5-4 ~ Forward ~ Irvine, California Freshman forward Danielle Dintino scored 2 goals and assisted on another as Vanguard opened the season with a win, loss and a tie. In the loss at Dominican, she scored Vanguard's lone goal. In the win against Oregon Tech Dintino had another goal. In the tie with Cal State San Bernardino, she assisted on the game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation to send the game to a scoreless double overtime. Dintino was named the NAIA Region II Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. WOMEN'S
SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYERLAUREN GREGSTON ~ Biola University Freshman ~ 5-7 ~ Goalkeeper ~ Lake Forest, California Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Gregston recorded 4 saves in Biola's 1-0 win over Oregon Tech. She collected her first collegiate shutout in only her second game. Gregston was named the NAIA Region II Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. MEN'S

PLAYERJARED KARKAS ~ Azusa Pacific University Junior ~ 6-0 ~ Defender ~ Upland, California Junior defender Jared Karkas had a foot in 6 of Azusa Pacific's 13 goals in a pair of season-opening victories at Westmont College's Heritage Club Classic. Karkas assisted on 3 goals in the NAIA's No. 2-ranked Cougars' 6-0 win over Northwestern IA. He then assisted on 2 more and scored 1, all in the first 30 minutes of a 7-0 win over Dominican. The victories marked the highest scoring output (13 goals) for Azusa Pacific in the first 2 games of a season since 1973. PLAYERADAM KRAMER ~ California Baptist University Senior ~ 6-4 ~ Goalkeeper ~ Lake Elsinore, California Senior goalkeeper Adam Kramer collected 8 saves for his first career shutout, keeping NCAA Division II No. 11-ranked Cal State L.A. off the scoreboard. Kramer made several spectacular saves, including one on an 18-yard free kick headed to the right upper-90 and another save on a one-on-one opportunity in overtime. Cal State L.A. had averaged 5 goals per game coming in to the contest. Kramer was named the NAIA Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. SETTERSHU LIU Junior ~ 6-0 ~ Setter ~ Shen Yang, China Junior setter Shu Liu tallied 164 assists (13.67 a/g), 32 digs (2.67 d/g), 10 kills, 3 assist blocks, and an ace as NAIA No. 2-ranked Fresno Pacific won all 4 matches in the Concordia Labor Day Festival, including 3 against nationally ranked opponents. In the sweep of College of the Ozarks MO, she had 21 assists in 2 games. In the 3-game win over No. 10 Savannah Art & Design GA, Shu Liu had 36 assists and 5 kills. She recorded 69 assists and 15 digs in the Sunbirds' 4-game defeat of No. 25 Westminster. Finally Shu Liu had 38 assists and 9 digs as Fresno Pacific swept No. 6 Albertson ID. Shu Liu was chosen as the NAIA Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week VOLLEYBALL
LIBEROMALINDA REESE ~ Westmont College Senior ~ 5-7 ~ Libero ~ San Carlos, California Senior libero Malinda Reese registered 159 digs (8.83 d/g) and 3 aces as Westmont split its 4 matches in the Labor Day Festival hosted by Concordia CA. Reese tied the school record of 44 digs in the win against Olivet Nazarene IL in the first match and then broke the record with 55 digs in the 5-game loss to No. 19 Doane NE. She also had 35 digs in the win over No. 14 Northwestern IA and 25 in the loss to Montana Tech. Her pass percentage for the four matches was .944. Reese was named the NAIA Women's Volleyball Libero of the Week.
