September 3, 2007
MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER
JARED KARKAS ~ Azusa Pacific University
Junior ~ 6-0 ~ Defender ~ Upland, California
Junior defender Jared Karkas had a foot in 6 of Azusa Pacific's 13 goals in a pair of season-opening victories at Westmont College's Heritage Club Classic. Karkas assisted on 3 goals in the NAIA's No. 2-ranked Cougars' 6-0 win over Northwestern IA. He then assisted on 2 more and scored 1, all in the first 30 minutes of a 7-0 win over Dominican. The victories marked the highest scoring output (13 goals) for Azusa Pacific in the first 2 games of a season since 1973.  Karkas was chosen as the NAIA Region II Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER
ADAM KRAMER ~ California Baptist University
Senior ~ 6-4 ~ Goalkeeper ~ Lake Elsinore, California

Senior goalkeeper Adam Kramer
collected 8 saves for his first career shutout, keeping NCAA Division II No. 11-ranked Cal State L.A. off the scoreboard. Kramer made several spectacular saves, including one on an 18-yard free kick headed to the right upper-90 and another save on a one-on-one opportunity in overtime. Cal State L.A. had averaged 5 goals per game coming in to the contest. Kramer was named the NAIA Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER
STEVEN LENHART ~ Azusa Pacific University
Senior ~ 6-1 ~ Forward ~ Yorba Linda, California
Senior forward Steven Lenhart scored 1 first-half goal against Cal State San Marcos, then recorded a second-half hat trick for a career-high 4 goals to lead the Cougars to a 4-2 non-conference victory. Lenhart came on as a reserve to start the second half against Corban OR, after watching a scoreless first half from the bench, and he needed just 2 minutes to bury the game-winner in a 2-0 win.  Lenhart was selected as the NAIA Region II Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER
BRANDON CAVE ~ Fresno Pacific University
Junior ~ 5-10 ~ Goalkeeper ~ Fresno, California

Junior goalkeeper Brandon Cave recorded 2 shutouts on the road as against 2 NAIA Top 10-ranked teams.  He had 6 saves in No. 18-ranked Fresno Pacific's win against No. 10 Judson IL and another save in the win at No. 2 Rio Grande OH.  Cave was chosen as
the NAIA Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER
SVEN SIMON ~ Azusa Pacific University
Senior ~ 6-1 ~ Forward ~ Ruesselsheim, Germany
Senior forward Sven Simon scored a pair of second-half goals after a scoreless first half in a 4-0 victory over Cumberlands KY, then 24 hous later he scored the "golden goal" with less than 3 minutes to play in the second overtime to lead the NAIA's No. 4-ranked Azusa Pacific to a 1-0 win over No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson KY. Simon was selected as the NAIA Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER
JAMES CRAWFORD ~ Azusa Pacific University
Junior ~ 6-0 ~ Goalkeeper ~ San Diego, California

Junior goalkeeper James Crawford registered a pair of shutouts, giving him 3 in 4 games this season. He had a pair of saves in the Cougars' 4-0 win over Cumberlands KY, then helped keep No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson KY scoreless through all of regulation and over 17 minutes of overtime before Azusa Pacific scored for the victory, its first-ever over Lindsey Wilson away from home.  Crawford was named the NAIA Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER
JON FIELDING ~ Point Loma Nazarene University
Sophomore ~ 5-9 ~ Midfielder ~ Scunthorpe, England
Sophomore midfielder Jon Fielding assisted on Point Loma Nazarene's first goal and then hit the game-winner in a 3-1 upset of No. 6-ranked Fresno Pacific. The Sea Lions remain unbeaten on the season.  Fielding was chosen as the NAIA Region II Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

GARETH MOORE ~ Point Loma Nazarene University
Sophomore ~ 6-1 ~ Defender ~ Temecula, California

Sophomore defender
Gareth Moore was a key factor in the Point Loma Nazarene defense yielding just 6 shots total, 3 on goal, in a 3-1 victory over No. 6 Fresno Pacific. Moore also headed in the Sea Lion's first goal.  Moore was named the NAIA Region II Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER
STEVEN LENHART ~ Azusa Pacific University
Senior ~ 6-1 ~ Forward ~ Yorba Linda, California
Senior forward Steven Lenhart scored the lone goal in the NAIA's No. 2-ranked Azusa Pacific's 1-0 road win over No. 13-ranked Fresno Pacific in the Cougars' GSAC opener.  He then scored another game-winner against San Diego Christian just 3 and a half minutes into the game. Lenhart has scored the game-winning goal in 5 of the Cougars' 9 wins, helping Azusa Pacific win its first 9 games, a program record for a season-opening winning streak.  Lenhart was chosen as the NAIA Region II Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER
MIKE BORST ~ Concordia University
Senior ~ 5-11 ~ Goalkeeper ~ Shelby Township, Michigan

Senior goalkeeper Mike Borst recorded 6 saves and recorded 2 shutouts as No. 1-ranked Concordia won both of its conference games last week.  He
helped Concordia set a school record with over 720-straight scoreless minutes played as the Eagles remain undefeated and in first place in the GSAC.  Borst was selected as the NAIA Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER
PABLO CAMPOS ~Fresno Pacific University
Junior ~ 6-3 ~ Striker ~ Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Junior striker Pablo Campos scored 3 goals and 2 assists as No. 10-ranked Fresno Pacific won both of its GSAC games last week.  He scored the lone goal in the win at Biola.  Then in the victory against San Diego Christian, he scored the first 2 goals in less than 10 minutes, and assisted on 2 others.

Freshman ~ 5-10 ~ Goalkeeper ~ Lake Forest, California

Freshman goalkeeper Trevor Herrera
posted his second and third shutouts of the season as Vanguard knocked off No. 17 Point Loma Nazarene and The Master's by the score of 1-0 last week. Herrera stopped all 11 shots on goal in 180 minutes of play.  Herrera was chosen as the NAIA Region II Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER
ADRIAN ALVARADO ~ Fresno Pacific University
Senior ~ 5-9 ~ Midfielder ~ Strathmore, California
Senior midfielder Adrian Alvarado scored 3 goals as No. 10-ranked Fresno Pacific won both of its GSAC games last week.  He scored his first goal of the week in a win over Westmont.  Then Alvarado scored the game-tying goal on the road at California Baptist to force overtime and then scored the game-winner in double overtime.

Senior ~ 5-11 ~ Goalkeeper ~ Shelby Township, MI

Senior goalkeeper Mike Borst posted 2 shutouts as No. 1-ranked Concordia won both of its conference games last week and remains undefeated.  Borst stopped all 8 shots on goal in 180 minutes of play in both 1-0 shutouts of Vanguard at home and Westmont on the road.  Borst now has 8 shutouts on the season and a GSAC-low .28 goals against average.  Borst was chosen as the NAIA Region II Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Senior ~ 6-1 ~ Forward ~ Yorba Linda, California
Senior forward Steven Lenhart tied a career high scoring all 4 goals in No. 2-ranked Azusa Pacific's 4-0 victory over the NAIA's top-ranked Concordia. He currently leads the conference in overall stats with 14 goals.  Lenhart was named the NAIA Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Senior ~ 5-11 ~ Goalkeeper ~ Shelby Township, MI

Senior goalkeeper Justin Etherton recorded 2 shutouts as Westmont defeated both of its GSAC opponents last week.  Etherton
stopped all 9 shots on goal in 180 minutes of play in wins over Biola and San Diego Christian.

Senior striker Amaury Nunes scored 4 goals and assisted on another as Fresno Pacific defeated both of its GSAC opponents last week.  In the win at The Master's, he scored 2 goals.  Then against Hope International, Nunes scored 2 goals and recorded an assist.
