KELLY SCHMIDT ~ Vanguard University
Sophomore ~ 6-0 ~ Forward ~ Glendale, Arizona
Sophomore Kelly Schmidt recorded a pair of double-doubles and received all-tournament honors as No. 2-ranked Vanguard won both of its games at the GSAC Challenge women's basketball tournament which featured 5 top-15 ranked teams.  For the week, she scored 55 points, while shooting 17-for-31 (.548) from the field and 21-24 (.875) at the line.   Schmidt also grabbed 28 rebounds, dished out 7 assists and stole the ball 5 times.  In the win against Bethany, she had 30 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals and  2 assists.  In the victory over No. 11-ranked Oklahoma City, she registered 25 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. 
 
January 10, 2005
KELLY SCHMIDT ~ Vanguard University
Sophomore ~ 6-0 ~ Forward ~ Glendale, Arizona
Sophomore Kelly Schmidt averaged 21.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists as No. 2-ranked Vanguard won all 3 of its GSAC games last week, including wins over 2 Top-10 teams.  For the week, she was 22-for-47 (.468) from the field and 20-for-28 (.714) at the line.  In the win at Concordia, she had 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.  Schmidt scored 18 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 5 assists as Vanguard gave No. 4 Point Loma Nazarene its first loss of the season.  In the 2-point win over No. 7 The Master's, she recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

MEGAN FATE ~ Westmont College
Junior ~ 5-7 ~ Guard ~ Long Beach, California

Junior Megan Fate averaged 30.5 points, 6 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.5 steals as Westmont split 2 conference games last week.  For the week, she was 22-for-42 (.524) from the field, including 5-for-12 (.417) from 3-point range, and shot 12-for-14 (.857) at the line.  In the loss to No. 2-ranked Vanguard, Fate scored 29 points, dished out 7 assists, grabbed 4 rebounds, had 2 steals and blocked a shot.   In the win against California Baptist, she scored a career-high 32 points and had 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Fate was selected as the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

JESSICA MERCADO ~ Point Loma Nazarene
Senior ~ 5-9 ~ Guard ~ San Diego, California
Senior guard Jessica Mercado registered 51 points, 19 rebounds, 14 steals, 9 assists and a blocked shot as No. 7-ranked Point Loma Nazarene won all 3 of its GSAC games last week.  For the week, she shot 21-for-35 (.600) from the field, including 5-for-13 (.385) from 3-point range, and was 3-for-5 (.600) at the line.  In the win at Hope International, Mercado had 15 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals and 4 assists.  In the win over Biola, she had 13 points and 4 each of rebounds, assists and steals.  In the win at Westmont, Mercado tallied 23 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals.

LINDSAY WEST ~ Azusa Pacific University
Junior ~ 5-10 ~ Forward ~ Wasco, California

Junior forward Lindsay West scored 27 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out 7 assists as No. 12-ranked Azusa Pacific won both of its GSAC games last week.  For the week, she shot 10-for-20 (.500) from the field, including 1-for-1 from 3-point range, and was 6-for-6 at the line.  West hit the game-winning shot as time expired at No. 1-ranked Vanguard for Azusa Pacific's first win over a top-ranked team and snapped Vanguard's 15-game home court winning streak.  In the game, West had 16 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.  In the win against Biola, she had 11 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and a blocked shot.

AMY VAN DOESBURG ~ The Master's College
Senior ~ 6-4 ~ Center ~ Leduc, Alberta, Canada
Senior center Amy Van Doesburg recorded 2 double-doubles with an average of 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds as No. 3-ranked The Master's beat a pair of NAIA Top 15 ranked teams.  For the week, Van Doesburg was 13-for-21 (.619) from the field and 3-for-5 (.600) at the line.  In the victory over No. 5 Point Loma Nazarene, she registered 12 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals.  In the win over No. 11 Azusa Pacific, Van Doesburg tallied 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocked shots, a steal and an assist.  She now has 7 double-doubles on the season.
